Rapid prototyping lead time: often around 14 days (excluding shipping). All production techniques under one roof, without going to several specialists.
Rapid prototyping is about short iterations: design, build, test, adjust. The pitfall is that the fastest technique does not always answer the right question. A printed model says little about the strength of a machined POM part or an injection-moulded enclosure.
So we start with the purpose of the iteration. If it is about shape and ergonomics, a quick printed version is enough. If it is about function, fit or strength, we often recommend a final-material prototype.
Every prototyping round also builds production knowledge that we carry into series production.
STEP 01
You send a STEP file or technical drawing, with the purpose of the prototype.
STEP 02
We review the design and advise technique, material and finish for this phase.
STEP 03
After approval we organise production with the best-fitting partner and guard quality.
STEP 04
You test the part; improvements feed into the next iteration or the production design.
Exten operates from Eindhoven, in the middle of a region dense with OEMs, machine builders and product developers. Short lines: discussing a prototype can happen at the table, with the part in hand.
We supply companies across the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. See also the industries we supply.
